The eleven notes

These sit at the foot of Annexure-I, and between them they decide who reaches the merit list.

  1. Question papers in Urdu and Sindhi should be answered in the respective languages.
  2. There will be two papers of 100 marks from each of the subjects carrying 200 marks. Each paper is of three hours' duration.
  3. Non-Muslim candidates may opt for either Islamic Studies or Comparative Study of Major Religions, as may suit them.
  4. Candidates are required to opt for either the General Paper in Sindhi or the General Paper in Urdu.
  5. All papers are of three (03) hours' duration.
  6. If a candidate's handwriting is not easily legible, a deduction — which may be considerable — may be made on that account from the total marks secured.
  7. Credit is given for good English, including orderly, effective and exact expression combined with due economy of words, in all subjects of the examination and not only in those specially devoted to English.
  8. Names of candidates who qualify are arranged in order of merit according to the aggregate marks obtained in the examination.
  9. In the event of a tie, the order of merit is determined by the highest marks secured in the viva voce. Should those be equal, the order of merit is decided by the highest aggregate marks in the compulsory subjects.
  10. No candidate is summoned for the viva voce unless he or she obtains at least 33 percent in each individual written paper and 50 percent in the aggregate of the written portion. No candidate is considered to have qualified unless he or she also obtains at least 30 percent in the viva voce; failure in, or absence from, the viva voce means the candidate has failed to qualify for appointment and the name will not be included in the merit list.
  11. There is no provision of grace marks.
